Hey guys, i am in the market looking for an E60 M5. After some mixed up reviews, i am kinda confused on wether i should go for a manual or and SMG. Which one is better and sportier? Also, has anything changed from an 06 to 09? Does the year matters? I am looking at this interlogas Blue w/ white interior SMG, with 34k miles and the dealer is asking $47k. What do you guys think?

There are a number of posts on the SMG vs. 6MT topic, including my own thread on this first page...
Read all you can, then drive them - its a very subjective thing.

SMG. The engine was built around the SMG tranny. The manual is actually a bit slower.

1) I don't think the M5 came with a manual till 2007 so if you're looking for a cheaper 06 one, then you won't find any manuals.
2) The manual was initially rated a bit slower than the SMG because you couldn't completely disengage traction control but that was later remedied with a software update. Performance should be on par.

SMG is brilliant.
IB + Silverstone? would be a great combo. Is it a 2006? At that price it should be loaded with full leather, HUD, comfort access, SAT radio, etc ... Otherwise it is a bit high.
Good luck and let us know what you snag. You won't regret getting an M5 and they are a smart buy right now.

First of all thank you everyone for ur inputs.
Yea it is going to be an 06 model... should be fully loaded with comfort seat and all that. I think it has the cooling seat feature also. Lets see where i go with the deal? And y is it the best time to buy an M5? Happy Motoring.

This question isn't about preference.....the SMG is by far superior and tons more fun to drive!
