Every car mag I read and every website I visited from 11/04 on, besides raving about 10 cylinders, 507HP and 8,000+ revs, always mentioned Launch Control and how amazing it was. Other than this forum, it was only this past thursday that I read the Auto Week M5 update, which was the first time I read (other than here) L/C is NOT available in NA. Not once did BMW say OBTW, this feature will not be included in US cars. This forum is where it's at if you really want to know everything there is to know about BMW

As far as I know, it is available in the US. But, apparently it is watered down to no go above 1.8k RPM.

US M5s get LC, but launch RPM is 1,800 instead of 4,000.

RPM reduction aside, does the car "automatically" upshift as speed builds?

[/quote]Yes. it has the SMG tranny so it can be set on automatic with various degrees of shift quickness. The M5 apparently will be available with a manual in the future.

No, LC does not automatically upshift the gears in the US. The Drivelogic SMG can be used as an automatic shifting tranny, but not using launch control.

My point exactly... Not only is the so called launch watered down to 1700 RPM's, they have also disabled the SMG's ability to upshift AUTOMATICALLY when in LC. So in essence, it's not watered down, it's eliminated.
