B5 motor anyday of the week.
The car would have to be my daily driver as well as weekend car and I don't find myself driving in excess of 100mph too often, especially not here in the States with a 65mph speed limit.
For city driving I'd like the high-torque motor please.
If Alpina would allow for it, I would ask them to leave the exterior modifications off. I don't like the spoilers they put on the B5 and what's up with the pin-striping? That's sooo 1980's.

I don't want M5, I want B5. I like a "quiet" car if you know what I mean, a "pocket rocket"

I like the M5 look much more, too.
B5 looks "heavy" and reminds me some older Alpina models.

Given the choice, i'd have a standard car with a powerful engine over a powerful looking car with a weak engine
This is all IMHO, so please play nice ...

I'd rather have the M5 anyday with its combination of looks/ V10 sound etc. The B5 IMHO looks a bit of customised SE. Not there is anything wrong with the looks of the SE.
And the V10 engine is by far a weak engine Sure it ain't a torque monster but you have different aproachings from the M people. You have a high revving engine and gearing to match a car with more torque.
The engine from the M5 has been voted 2nd times now, in a row, the best engine at 5000cc and over.
