A couple of years ago I started getting extended false alarms on the highway which turned out to be from late model Audi's I was approaching from the rear. It is far worse today and I can't drive more than a couple of minutes in the city without an Audi setting off my detector (Escort). I recently changed to a Valentine 1 and was hoping it might screen out the problem, but to no avail.

Has anyone else noticed this problem that seems to be specific to Audi's, and does anyone have an explanation? I am getting extremely pissed off by the worsening situation.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't intend to post in this forum, and just realized my mistake (system won't let me delete the post). Comments would be appreciated, regardless.

I thought I was the only one!

When I still had my V1 installed; it was going off sometimes at night with a strong signal approcahing. It was 4am and I was pulling up behind an Audi Q7.

We were the only cars on the road. Ever since then I started to notice the same thing passing several differnet Audi's and just learnt to live with it.

The recommended work-around is to go into programming mode in the V1 and turn off POP protection. INSTRUCTIONS This may sound onerous, but I discovered that only the states of Oregon, Nevada, and Iowa offer the Bee III radar with POP Mode as an option to be purchased by law enforcement agencies via state contract, so chances are if you're from outside these states you will be okay without POP detection.

Probably due to the active cruise control on the Audi. They use a radar system to sense following distance.

Add Volvo's in there too with their blind spot radars.

Mercedes will do it to you also...

What false signals are you referring to, k, x, ka, laser...?

I get false laser warning from Infinity cars. Haven't noticed it from any of the other makes mentioned above. I have my V1 set to upper case L.

I get serious K-band falses on my Bel STi-R, which is clearly associated with my own active cruise control system. I've disabled K-Band on the Bel, and interestingly my high-windshield-mounted V1 does not false, except when in the garage or closely in front of a wall.

I haven't had this problem, although my V1 is programmed.
I do get Infinit's w/ the active cruise control setting off the laser on the V1 though.

I have the Passport 9500ci in my E60. When I drive behind my wife's E60 I get a signal/beep the whole time.

This has happend on different days so has been confirmed and is repeatable.

What I don't get is her car has no active cruise control. The only thing remotely close is PDC and that is ultrasound. Confounds me.
