I'm still curious if Canada has the free scheduled maint plan as we do in the US.

I just paid $109 tax included. My dealer wouldn't reset the I drive because I wouldnt let him change my microfilter, luckily I have e60.net so I can do this myself.

My advice would be to buy the oil and filters yourself, preferably from the US where it can be bought for around $10/L and then have any oil change place do it for you. Its not really hard to change and the guys at the oil change shop will love you for bringing your beast in. I change mine more often than recommended just to be on the safe side. GL

My dealer charges around $15-$16 for a L of oil.
That does say schedule maint is free for 4 years or 80K kilometers for vehicles purchased from an authorized BMW dealer in Canada.
So I'm wondering if:
1) They're charging Jon cause his car was purchased from the US?
2) He did his oil change out of cycle. But even if this was the case, they should have told him the cost up front and also told him about the 55-pt inspection.

To add something - if the car is a US purchase, they will service it in Canada, honour warranty for recalls etc. but will NOT do the free maintenance. You are on your own for the service. I think they may offer an "extended-type" warranty, but I'm not sure. Of course you could always hop across the border.....

Exactly, if that's the way they're going to be, then they should not get your business. Have it serviced in the US at the nearest BMW dealer.
So is the maintenance warranty still covered if I take my vehicle back to the states for a free oil change? I bought my car from the US and now registered it in Canada. I remember the dealer telling me that I had the maintenance pkg but the Canadian dealer wouldnt honor it, so can I still drive it back over the border for a free service?

My dealer charges just shy of $20 per litre so at 11 litres that $220 plus 12% tax just for the oil. I'm sure the filter is $50 and they charge an hour or so ($150) so I would expect an oil change at my dealer to be around $475.
Fortunately I'm in the free maintenance period.
