They originally offered to hold the price to MSRP, but since so many others are charging a premium, well, that leaves out a lot of dollars for them.?

So, for those of you who where able to buy the M5 in a rational market location, well done.?? ?? For those of you in CA, ouch.?

So that means if you fork over $114,780.00 + tax, you will be the first one on your block to own this gem

It turns out that the premium was initially set at "only" $15,000. There was no shortage of takers even at that price.

I just spoke with my sales guy, Anatoly at East Bay BMW, if you guys want an M5 he will take your deposit and sell it to you for MSRP. He didn't say how many were on the list but he told me no premiums over MSRP.

I was told by a dealer here is San Diego County they are paying retail for the M5 because of the demand and of corse are passing the price to the consumer. How can that be? How can BMW sell a vehicle at retail price to one of it's own dealers? They said the M5 will be going for close to six figures. OUCH! For that you could buy a 550 and got crazy with mods.....I know...it's still not an M5.

The cars they get from BMW, they pay factory invoice for, not MSRP. Could be they are buying additional M5s from dealers or brokers in other parts of the country (where demand isn't as crazy as it is in socal) and paying MSRP for them. Nothing like stretching the truth...

True. You have to take what they say with a grain of salt. After all, they are in the business of sales.

Does anyone know if or when you can use ED to get an M5? Given its limited production, it may not be eligible.

No discount for ED, but your dealer might allow you to pick it up there. Mine says no.
