Wow - I paid $2500 for the top of the line warranty on my M5 for another 4 years (However, I've also owned it for the last 4 years under the standard BMW warranty). You should try some other companies, as $5K seems like a lot and $7K is ridic!

I've been adding a quart of oil every 1,000 miles or without any issues. Guess she's just thirsty all the time lol. But if someone is going over on an oil change service(15,000/1yr) the car in general probably wasn't taken care of and maintained well period (as C already stated). Most of us change our oil by atleast the 7,500 mile mark (even though I burn through almost 8 qt's in that time haha I wish filters could last forever!! Then I would never need an oil change )

well when i got the quote it was for a 2006 M5 with 46k miles....low miles to me...but some say its high miles so.....either way they lost out on a sale. shit, for $5k to $7k id rather put that money in the bank and let it appreciate at 3% to 5% and yank it out when needed for any repairs...but thats just me.

*currently driving around with all fingers & toes crossed*

Where can you get 3-5% interest from a bank? I want to open an account!

depends on the term/commitment....but once you go over $5k ROI gets better...there are 5 year CDs that give you 3%....

*disclaimer, im in advertising....not finance so im only quoting what my broker has told me lol*

Not any more! The good old days of high percentage bank interest are gone for good... PS I drive around with no warranty as well and lets just say I've spent about 15,000 on repairs in the last 2 years. 2 alternators, 2 belts, 1 alternator pulley, 2 fuel vent valves 5 months with loaners... Shit adds up quick with the parts/labor at the dealership (going to start looking for a good indy shop soon). Original smg pump/clutch still going strong at 75k miles though lol.

Thanks, guys. I feel I need to shy away from this one for now. I think I will search for a CPO'd 550i to come in. We have gotten some 528's and 535s, so I will try to be a little patient and see if we get any 550s. In the meantime, if a newer M5 comes in as a CPO, I may jump on it.

But with the warranty on this one about to expire and buying a warranty (even at cost for the dealership is still $7k), it now seems like I'd be doing too much to try and make the car work. If it doesn't fit, I shouldn't try to make it.
