xenon vs non-xenon (confused)
Hi,
I just bought 2009 530i E60 LCI. My car's headlights can be seen in the attached picture. I don't know if the experts are able to tell or not but allthough low beam lenses are xenon like, these are non-xenon headlights as bulbs are H7.
I have found a second hand Xenon headlights for my model here: 2004 E60 BMW 5 Series LHS Xenon Headlight NON Adaptive Complete | eBay
I cannot see any visual difference between what my car has and this second hand xenon headlights.
Is this correct that I don't need to replace whole headlight but just the bulb set? (bulb, ballast etc..) Will I need any coding?
If my assumption is correct, could somebody advice me any xenon conversion kit (or however we call them)? I live in Sydney, AU.
Thanks in advance.

Your car is LCI and the Ebay listing is for pre LCI. Your lights are much better looking than the pre LCI. Most pre LCI wants the LCI look upgrade. So, if yours is not Xenon and using the H7, and you want Xenon, just buy the H7 Xenon HID cambus (5000K or 6000K) kit, you will get that whiter Xenon look.

No coding required, just get a cambus kit. If your headlights are Xenon, buy the D1S bulbs. If yours are nonXenon, then get the H7 Cambus HID conversion kit. Below is the DIY HID conversion:

I'm not sure you're getting any value out of those - I can't find any proper shops selling a Phillips HID kit, and I wouldn't expect Phillips them to HID retrofit kits anyway, they only supply manufacturers.
If you find your local auto light specialist you should be able to get something at a fraction of a cost - over here there's a website called hids-direct.co.uk who sell a suitable kit for £50 with 2 years warranty. Something like that should do you fine - just make sure the bulb is UV cut so it doesn't degrade the plastics in your headlight
