Default Wrapping a fiberglass front bumper

Has anyone wrapped their fiberglass front bumper with a clear 3M? If so, are you still getting any chips?

I recently had my 2 year old 3m clear bra replaced with a suntek. When the tech removed it the paint was fine underneath. I had driven the car 45k miles the last two years.

Was your Bumper made of fiberglass? or was it your OEM Bumper?

Oem. However it s not the fiberglass that it adheres to but the paint. As long as they prep the surface properly before painting and do multiple layers of paint and clearcoat, which any decent body shop would do, you can wrap it. Be sure to get a quality wrap and for the easy of cleaning get it opti-coated or ceramic pro coated.

The chipping is caused by several things. One is the roads in general. Two is that you are following too closely. C'mon, go ahead and admit it! This is really the main reason for this. Another reason is the quality of paint. If the hardener was mixed to high for trying to speed up the process then the clear becomes very brittle and will chip when hit for sure. Normally on front bumpers you go a little less with the hardener and then will allow for flex in the paint. Also primer if used needs to be the flex primer or you can add some clear hardener in to flex it. They may have not done some of these things in order for you to collect it quicker and they can move on to something else. The harder clear won't affect the application of film.
