Worried I am making an Error in Purchasing Springs

wait for Tirerack to get the H&R sports springs and koni to be available. I had 166s with stock suspension and the ride was like stock. I would switch out to aftermarket shocks after 35000 miles.

Any of you have pics of cars with H&R race springs? I'm curious to see how low it is. I'm just afraid of rubbing and scraping if someone sits in the back seat.

I would recommend you wait for the sports or go with eibach or dinan instead. the expensive part of suspension work isn't the springs, it's the labor, and you don't want to have to do it several times. BTDT- I went through three suspensions on my E36 before I was happy.

The Koni shock will be no prob with the H&R race springs.. also I think if you keep your 19" 166's you shouldn't have to roll the fenders. If you had 20's I'd be more concerned but with 19"s you should be ok

kind of a side-bar, but it's just funny to me how I bought 167's (19's with M6 offset) and I can't run with the 285/35 tires on them because they are too big a diameter and will rub apparently...... but they when people put the correct tire size on (275/30) the first then becomes, how do I drop it?

just seems like I could have removed 3/4 of an inch and saved a ton of money by just using the stock M6 tires.

In your case its the width of the tires that people are affraid will rub not the height of the tire. the M6 offset is already very aggressive if you add the extra width in the tires you will risk sticking out too far and rubbing the fenders.

When running a 285/35 run a 32mm off set in the rear, Its close butt it works!

He has M6 offset which is much more aggressive then 32mm I believe its 17mm

yes. but if you want 12 inches of tread you need to run a non agressive offset. Ofcourse you could have the fenders flared and have the best of both worlds!

Here is a pic from mine before, look how close the fender lip is to the tire..just about a fingers worth up and down the maybe 2mm side to side (tire tread to edge of fender)
