I'm sure you've opted to something other than a soldering iron by now

Was just wondering if your re-sealing methods have changed since the last few times you've done it.

Which is why I'm gonna be up bright and early and probably work 'till the evening. Maybe a few bbq'd burgers halfway through though.

One small comment for this mod though...
You have balls of steel for doing this! My biggest fear with one of these would be that I'd do it and wouldn't like it, and then I'm stuck with no way back. I'd be curious to see what your planning consists of (if any).

Ahh, yah. So I imagine you caught my comments later on as well? But fair enough, my method has changed, and I suppose it evolves continuously. I AM currently testing out a different base sealant that goes on before the waterproof silicone. So yah, there's always room for improvements.

As for actual tackling it. As long as you don't need your headlights, you should just take your time with it. Span it out a few days to be on the safe side if necessary. Better that than to do it wrong and have to redo.

Lol, doh. It sounds like it has been done on that side of the world. Oh well, still claim it for US! Har har

But yah, I hardly ever remember to take pics either when I do mods for people. Mainly cuz I am more of a doer and just wants to get stuff done. I am on a schedule damnit, hahaha.

Looks great! Think it's possible to cover the eyebrow with some sort of matte silver film from the inside to mimic the look of the new F series lights?

Also, I would really dig LED's as turn signals - basically everything about the new style lights. Any ideas Simon?

I would like to see orions during the day to see just how bright it is. I had LED, HID, gp thunder and didn't like any of them - so I went back to stock AE's with dimming coded off while I plot my next move.

Yes, that would be possible. I am actually not a fan of this "lid" over the headlights that seems to have been started by MB's C class (in fact, if I were to mod the F10's headlights, I would remove the eyelid and that stupid honeycombed piece for the turn signals). It makes for a droopy eye look to me. Anyway, if you were to cut out the whole piece of the eyebrow, it should be doable.

You can substitute LED for turn signals. Are you referring to the eyebrows? It's possible have the eyebrows be used like turn signals, which I think someone else on the board has already done. If I were to do anything like that, I would probably make it light sequentially for added effect.

Lastly, if you're ever down in OC, feel free to drop by and take a look. Dv8ed was here a few days ago, and for lulz I put a set of Orions on one side of his car to compare with the Mtec 3s. Let's just say the Mtec 3s actually look yellow next to Orions

Am I the only one that thinks there is way to much reflection inside the housing from the super bright AE's?

Probably, lol. It's only because of the picture(s). The inside is painted matte black and not gloss black. I personally think for this application, matte black looks better than gloss black.

The pictures were taken with an iPhone camera. They don't do these headlights any justice, which speaks volumes because they still look GREAT in the crappy pix to me! I'll see if I can post some better pix with my DSLR soon.
