For those of us preparing for winter, it would be a big help if people could reply with the size, name, cost and place of purchase for wheels and tires. I plan to pull the trigger next week. My baby should be back from Euro Delivery around 1 November!

Thanks for all your help.

What has been people's experience with the 17" All Seasons that come on the 530 (and now 525) without Sport Package? I'm trying to decide if I need winter tires. I live in Dayton, Ohio where we only get a few really nasty days of snow. Previous years my 325i with all seasons survived fine, but that was with 16" on a smaller and lighter car. Any thoughts? Thanks, Pat

235/45 R17 with Nokian Hakkaplietta RW...

I think 235 is to much in winter, but my tireshop told me that 245 would not cause any problems either...

Hi CRRobert, How well do the 245's fit on the 9" rears?
My snow tire solution went up in smoke this weekend (the deal not the tires ) so now I'm thinking of throwing some snows on the factory wheels and getting possible 19's for the good weather.

Also, does anyone know if the 8" 124's (the fronts) will fit on the rear. I know they'll fit but I am thinking offset.

I will have to let you know when I get them installed. Still need the car first. Gary at tire rack said that the tires will fit up to a 9.5" rim. I was hoping to get a 275 rear, but they are still not available yet and tirerack was backordered on the Dunlop M3 which also had not released a 275 yet. I went to 19 for summer. I was hoping to also put the 124 8" on the rear, but would have to buy two, or trade the rears for them.

I'm gonna try the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my 18" OEM wheels for winter. They certainly won't grip in the snow as well as a dedicated snow tire, but I didn't want to give up the handling in the dry. Plus, here in Cincinnati it doesn't snow much. And after hearing that some of the Chicago folks were going to stick with their all-seasons for the winter I felt better. We'll see how it goes...
