Having heard a fair number of horror stories about people driving there 545s in snow and ice, I think it is time for me to purchase some snow tires. <_<
I have narrowed down to the following short list based upon the raw stats. Can anyone comment on any of these and make a recommendation based on personal experience?
Bridgestone
Blizzak MZ-03
Dunlop
Graspic DS-1
Dunlop
Graspic DS-2 DSST CTT
(RunFlat)
Michelin
Pilot Alpin
Any comments, suggestions, warnings, etc would be greatly appreciated.

I've had Pirelli on my last car and they were GREAT! Not even that expensive...
I think I'll get the same for my E60. But I also think I will get some 16 rims for winter... Big size rims in winter aren't very good fo your car's "health"...

My 528i was great with pilot alpin from Michelin here in the north...We have brutal winters in Montreal...The traction system was great...I don t foresee any problems with my 530i
Don t worry about it

I have heard a lot about Blizzaks being fantastic, especially the '50's. There is a lot of disucssion on them over on bimmerfest.com in the section on tires.

I ran the Dunlops on my E39 and will again on my E60. However, you should know that they lean more to performance than bad weather traction. Since, even in the winter, roads are clear 90% of the time, performance is more important to me. But if you're more concerned about the other 10%, I hear the Blizzaks are great.

Those Alutec rims look a lot like ACSchnitzer wheels. Very good find!!!
