Just checked on it. Heilbron and Saarbruecken are 210 kms away from eachother. Unfortunately that's to much for me. So won't be attending at the meet :'( :'(

The Winter Sports don't come in the OEM size with the sport package, will you go with the 17" OEM size? 225/50-17? [/quote]
Just spoke to Connor at TireRack, and he said the Dunlop sport M3's do come in the 275/35-18 and 245/40-18 sizes. These will fit the 545 with sportpackage. The reason they are not shown on the website is they won't be available until October.

Outstanding.

What was the price?? :'( That would be a nice setup though. Now maybe need to get me a set of 19's so I can put the Dunlops on the Stock 18.

Is that so? I don't need the 275's but I need the 245/40-18. I wanted to stay with 18" rims rather than downsize. I still want the car to look pretty during the winter.

Infact i'm thinking to get the replica 18" style 124 rims from aaarims.com and having the winter tires mounted on them.

I heard some negative things about the replicas but for the winter I guess they'd be fine eh?

I noticed a new rim that was available from ASA (JH3) shown on tirerack. Similar to the 545i sport. Priced out a set with 17" similar to stock, and was less than $1200. This is with the Dunlop Runflat Winter sport M3.

Not runflats, they are the standard M3's. You may be able to order the runflats if you want. I just ordered a set to go on my OEM 18" wheels. They are backordered, and should be delivered in late Sept. Here are the reviews on Tirerack:

Everything you read about this tire is true. It is wonderful. Changed the whole spirit of the car. Its my wifes car and she drives on them now in the summer. Handling is still excellent. Quiet, great handling, very reduced joint thump. Could not ask for anything more. And it sells at a great price. I will never use Nokian or Blizzaks again.

Took off the OEM Contis and ran these M3s through a Wisconsin winter. Sometimes triggered traction control or ABS on newly-packed snow, but the tires always kept me going the right direction - as opposed to many drivers I saw heading for the ditch. Great tires in the wet, probably due to the siping grooves on the tread blocks. No noticeable wear and better than the stock Contis on dry pavement. Now the question is should I put my Contis back on or run these all year? Yeah, I know -- go ahead and pony up for the Goodyear F1 GS-D3s for the summer!

These tires turned my car from nearly immobile in the snow to SUV passing snow machine. I can maintain highway speeds except in the deepest snow. These are the best snow tires in the world without a doubt. I cant wait for it to snow so I can find a new spot to try these babys out. Hills are no problem anymore and they are solid and responsive even on glare ice. After 5k they show minimal wear. I would buy these again in a second.

These sound like the best tires for the E60 - nice job on Ebay 530E!

Hi Everybody.

This is my 1st post as you can see & I've just ordered a 530i for delivery later this year.

I agree this is a great forum and I'll be here often.

Just wanted to put my two cents in on this topic and I've been driving in Germany for the past 20 years.

I'm 100% pro winter tires on winter wheels if you live where the snow flies. One thing I noticed missing from this discussion is one of the main reasons for using winter tires. In addition to being great in snow & slush, they have a softer rubber mix and a special profile that helps your tires grip the dry road even at tempuratures just above freezing. My current car has a gong that goes off when the outside tempurature goes down to 37 degrees F. That's when I think about winter tires. I usually put them on in late October.

My dealer keeps my other wheels in storage which is a great help since I live up a set of stairs from street level.

Greetings from Bob

Welcome Bob!

The gong is something BMW has done on many (all?) of their cars for years now. My '89 M3 had it and I imagine prior models did as well.

Always thinking of safety, those German engineers!

So, does the E60 do that as well? I don't remember reading that anywhere -- maybe I missed it (too much stuff in the owners manual )
