Anyone? Any help would be appreciated!

I own a 2005 530d and live in Portugal. Since approximately 2 years ago the windshield rubber cover (PN 51317166841) and rear window rubber cover (PN 51317057415), see annexed document, also referred as covers, started to dry out and crack. I consulted BMW Portugal and for that matter BMW HQ in Munich (they sent me to BMW Portugal) about the conclusion of the local BMW dealership that the replacement of the rubber covers require both windshield and rear window to be removed. BMW Portugal backed up the position of the local dealership.

By closely observing the rubber cover (or seals), at least the windshield one, it seems that the replacement of the cover does not require the dismounting of the windshield.

Is this a fair assessment of my part? I need a good argument to counter act what seems to be a rip off.

Many thanks!

They do NOT need to remove the window to replace that in the rear. I just did mine, it literally took 5 minutes to do. I had the same exact problem, bought the part from the dealer, its really easy.

This is a DIY yourself project. No need for removing either the front or back glass. I did mine last spring, the back window was really fast and easy to do. The front one I had some minor problems with, but I got the job done.

Yup it was the same for me, just pick up the parts from the dealer and its a fairly easy fix. there is a thread on this forum somewhere that i followed as directions for DIY.
