I don't think anyone understand your question. This has nothing to do with SMG. Please state your question again.
Did you mean that can this be used on non-M manual transmission shift stick? If so, of course it does.
There are only two wires. One is +, the other is -.

Does manual transmission on the non-M E60 have the wiring set up so that I can wire it up wthout a problem? I would want it to light up and not just use the shifter.
Please advice?

Of course it works. All you need is to power and ground wires from cigarette lighter and feed to it. I'd be safe to add a fuse. This will turn on the light when ignition is on. Another way is to grab night light supply and feed it to a relay to turn this light on, or you grab power in parallel with any night light.
Let me know if u have any more question.

Thanks My 530i, i read your posts all the time it seems like you are very knowledgeable about our vehicles. By the way mine just arrived at the port in Oxnard. Woohoo, anyhow my easiest bet is probably to take the wiring from a night light, or the lighter but are these plugs, are they easy to find? Will i have to take off a lot of stuff?
With that being said has anyone found a way to install this shfter in to a non smg transmission. I think this knob looks super hot when illuminated.

1. Open up rear airvent of center console and grab power from cig output and run wire along the side of center console and to the shifter.
2. Open up dash and center dash wood trim, M-ASK/CCC and grab power from cig output. This is more painful than the 1st option.
Because BMW uses LED, it's not as hot as regular bulb which can burn your hand, but not with LED. It's just a little warm.
I was thinking about installing SMG shifter on car w/ Steps, but It's not doable. What missing is D mode and Park. M5 smg shifter has:
1. R
2. N
3. Manual
Step shifter has:
1. P
2. R
3. N
4. D
5. Manual
Therefore it cannot be done. Also, there is no lever on the shifter to latch/unlatch the knotch of the Step transmission.
Best Regards,
Fred

For the manual transmission you can try the knob off of an E39 M5. That top right photo looks like it's from an M Roadster (Z3). I don't think that bulb was LED but I could be wrong. Mine used to feel a little warm but the heat could have been from the transmission itself. There is also another knob used in the E60 M Sport Pack (ROW) but it's not illuminated. As others have said, you can tap power off the rear cig lighter outlet.
