Ok, so I pulled the trigger on some M6 167's and I need to have some form of back-up now the RFTs are no longer.

I was looking at the M mobility kit, but a few topics say they will be no good if the puncture is worse that a nail hole! so my next alternative is a space saver (although I was happy that I'd saved some weight with the m167's I will add it straight back on with one of these heavy items ).

I was wondering if the e46 17" one will fit the e60 545i as I cannot find any secondhand e60 ones. There are a few on ebay, but could do with knowing before I buy. Money is short so I would want to avoid dealership prices.

I have read other posts, but no definitive answers.

The E46 spare wheel and tyre will fit into the boot well of your E60. However, it won't do you much good. The E46 wheel is different from an E60 one!! It has the same diameter, but the E60 wheel is wider, and I believe it has a different offset.

Check out the part numbers on RealOEM.

Your local tyre factor should be able to source one cheaper than a $tealer. Mine cost me ?85 last year - genuine BMW wheel (new) and Continental tyre. I already carry a wheelbrace (as well as enough tools for a major stripdown!!). To be as cheapskate as me, go to your local scrappers and get a Vauxhall Carlton Jack (I believe the Omega/Vectra ones are the same, but check the safe working load). Three minutes with a hacksaw meant that the plastic top on the Vauxhall jack was shortened enough to fit perfectly in the BMW mounting points on the sills (The plastic top was the correct width, but needed a few millimetres off the length).

Just doing a bit more digging on real oem. Looks like the e46 is a 3.5"x17" et30 and the e60 is 4"x17" and et18.

hmmmm...
