i was looking at a particular wheel for my e60 i was wondering if it would fit my car if its from a m3

If the width and offsets are the same, or are pretty close to the same, there shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think it'll work. The offset on M3 rims are in the 47ish in the front when m6 rims are 12 in the front.

E46 wheels will fit on an E60 "xi", not a standard RWD E60. The offset on an xi is ET43.
