I guess I need to make a visit to my local dealership this weekend and see what they can do for me. If my out of pocket is going to be $5K-$10K on penalty, I guess I'll just get the M-Tech kit and deal with my car for another 15 months.
You're going to go upside-down if you get into a new lease. Here's how it works. Dealer will negotiate with you what they will buy your car for. Then you take into account what the lease buyout is. I bet it's about a difference of $5K. Next, you negotiate on the price of the M5. After arriving at an agreed price, they'll add the $5K to the price. It may not be a bad deal considering 2006 M5s are depreciating a lot these days. Just be sure to get a good Money Factor.

Any way, I was talking to her when she was driving the 550 last week on her way home from work. She was using the bluetooth...all of a sudden I hear BRAAAAROOOOOM!!!! Engine roars to life for about 4 seconds then gets quiet again. I paused for a second then said " Honey...what was that?", knowing full well what it was. Without hesitation she responds, "That was my stomach growling. Where are we going for dinner?" I almost pissed myself laughing!

Ouch!!!sorry to hear that..I tell my family members to push the pdc button when pulling in to park, activating the sensor....just a suggestion. I have the stock front bumper from my car if you want to replace yours/hers...especially if you are gonna terminate your lease early. Good luck.

PDC doesn't pick up on parking curbs that low to the ground. But yeah, she always uses PDC when she pulls into our garage.

With only 15 months left on the lease unless you have money to burn I would repair the stock bumper and leave it as it or throw a replica ACS front lip on it.

When the lease is up get the car you want.

At least you know the responsible party and can arrange suitable punishment.

Replace / repair the bumper and buy your spouse an H-1 so she can drive over those obstacles easily!

the penalty of the lease can't really be more than what interest you own them for the 15 months. in eu, you would just pay them the 15 lease rates + a final sum to buy the car off them now and then you can do what you want with the car, ie trade it in for something else...

Hey C I feel your pain. Last year my wife took my car to A.C. and as she was turning into the valet parking there was a (she says narrow) circle she needed to pull into. Well she managed to scrape all 4 rims. Up to that point I was very meticulous with the car, only hand washing it etc..After that incident I just take it to the car wash and kind of gave up being anal...Im still pissed...but I forgive her...I guess...
