Guys,

I have done a lot of work on tires (see all the wheel combos i have had) and I thought of putting something down in writing for those interested in upgrading to 19". I just saw a picture of xBMWx's car so I decided to make this post:

The recommended tire size is 245/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rear. I have tried the following set of wheels: Dunlops and Contis on 19". I have to admit both tire walls were to straight but inclined more to the inside of the alloy indicating that the tire is not wide enough for 19" alloy. I talked to the guy who sells tires to me - he tells me that the michelins are about 5mm wider than the dunlops or contis. Looking at the pic of xBMWx's car, i can confirm that his tire wall is much straighter than mine.

I know Nick from Greece did some homework aswell and he ended up taking vredsteins (i think) but the bottom line:

GUYS BE AWARE - 245 is not always 245. Compare the tire widths but certainly Dunlops and Contis are less wider than the Michelins!!!!

Hope this was of some help...

True.

Some tyre manufacturers name the width of the whole carcasse as the tyre width, while others name the width of the tread only as size, in addition to other factors.

Sometimes even the same tyre model is different within different sizes. e.g. a Toyo Proxes T1-R in 275/30/20 is 270mm wide. The same tyre in 285/25/20 on the other hand is 292mm wide.
