What's the chance that H&R gave you the wrong springs???

Dr. If I remember correctly the reason you had that large gap was because you still had the 17" wheel on the other side. I don't think the gap would be that big with 19's all around and your oem struts.

Rick...

I had 19" on oem struts before I get the H&R springs installed on my 530xi. And let me tell you, it's still an UGLY LOOKING TRUCK.

Actually, I think it's more like $3K-$4K more than the standard RWD.

Dave - I feel terrible man. This really blows. You should ask your mechanic if there is ANY way to reconfigure a coilover system to work with our car. I recall seeing a recent post by member Bambi (whom also has an xi and the H&R Springs) and he said his mechanic look at the underside of his car and felt with a little bit of tweaking, he could make Bilstein's work. PM him and see what he says. I think he might try it.

My car seems fine up to now which has been about a year after I've got the springs installed. But I start to notice some interior parts has become loose and unpleasant rattling noise has increased result from the rough ride with just springs installed. My mechanic said I should be able to use the regular e60 coilover on the xi model but I'm really reluctant to try. Anyone know if that's really do-able? I want the soft ride back but I also want my car looks nice.....what to do......what to do?

What we need is a guinea pig for this experiment. However, I am leasing and too pissed to want to spend more cash on this ride of mine. We need an xi owner out there who has the stones and a good mechanic willing to try some coilovers from an "i" model and tweak it into the xi. Who's up for it?

Sorry to hear about the problems. I had been debating ordering the H&R springs for my XI but your post (in addition to the dealerships comments when I asked them to for a quote to install them) and other feedback on this topic has me thinking that I should wait to see if coilovers become available.

Just had the CSLs installed yesterday and they totally make the car look different. The gap is noticable on the stock xi suspension but I think the color of my car (Jet Black) disguises it at bit. I can live with it for now!

Good luck with whatever path you decide to take.

Thanks....and congrats on your rims. We'll require some photos! Yeah, I actually emailed Turner MS and Billstein yesterday asking, or should I say urging them to make coilovers for our cars. It would be a huge relief to have that option right now. I am even considering getting something new at this point if I have to put my old springs back on...and keeping the xi as my beater car!

Ok, been promising pics for sometime. Here is one from today - same wheels as DrLev99 and C's Bimmer. No H&R lowering springs on my XI due to the issues mentioned in this thread.....

Looks great man! Well done! It totally changes the whole car, right?

Here's a shot of my car, taken at today's meet. I have the springs and have had zero issues. I've also had them mounted the longest. Personally, I think you should still get and install them 06xi. There's very little gap. It changes the whole look.

As for the car itself, I still have a few goodies to add, all which should be mounted next week.
