I just got a PM 2 days ago from a member who dropped his 530i on Eibach's, whose car was sitting on his bumpstops. He had to cut his, and he says the ride is now improved. All of my "problems" were due to this issue, which was later resolved. The RIDE, however, was terrible, and that was mainly due to the harsh springs.

The car was 3 months old when I had the springs installed, but I am pretty sure the shocks were shot after 6 months. Never again would I do "just" springs.

I paid $260 for the install, and it was done perfectly, aside from the stops not being cut enough.
NextLevel, did you cut your bumpstops? Maybe DrLev's problems were from the cut stops. It does say that they are meant to be used with the stock shocks so maybe by cutting the stops it screwed it up.

I found this PDF from H&R and it talked about how some models may need to have the bumpstops cut. The XI is not on this list.

If you measure the gap on the OEM setup there should about 1/2" room of space before hitting the stops, the H&R spring specs give more than 1" drop so that would end up it will sit on the stops.

DrLev99 is absolutly correct about cutting the bump stops. All of you may think this issue only applies to DrLev99 xi but if I were you I would go out and check if your sitting on your bumpstops. I have a 530i RWD with new eibach/koni fsd and had to cut my bump stops 1in all around. No my shocks were not leaking. My car not ride nite/day better, goes over bumps much smoother and car does not vibrate.

If you have a non-sport E60 and installed lowering springs, I can almost bet your riding on your bump stops.

OEM sport bump stops are shorter than the non-sports one.

Thanks DrLev99 for helping me out with this issue.

So what shocks would be best to go with this setup, to bad they dont make a cup kit for the XI?

In the form of shock/strut? Anything other than OEM ...

Unfortunately none exist for the xi model ... at least AFAIK ...

or go w/ the fully adjustable KW Coilovers v3 kit retail at a tad bit less than $2700
