Who wants to see overhead monitors in an E60?
#1
well, after taking a look at the customers e60 today, my gears are turning in my head...and part of me is very tempted to do something a little different for back seat video.
i want to integrate two low profile 8" overhead flipdown monitors into the roof. I would build two curved fiberglass pods tat envelope the units, covered in matching headliner or vinyl, so instead of having it look like two units secured to the roof,it will be more flowing and blend in with a touch of class.
we checked, even with them flipped down, it clears the headrest as you lean the seat back,a nd unlike headrest monitors, overheads provide a bigger picture and is a lot more anti-theft when flipped up...
this is just pure imagination at this point, next week i am going to take a closer look at the car by taking some stuff apart to see how it cna be done...
but...if anyone has tried or done something similar, or have tips or ideas, feel free to throw them my way

so you are saying e60bmws arent family cars that carry kids in the back that should be entertained on roadtrips? jk
i of course agree bmws are for driving, but rear seat video isnt really that much more of a "driving" hinderance than the Idrive...no?
hehe my title merely suggested that it would be a challenging install for an e60, i didnt mean that i think each 5 series should come with them
