If you're asking about gains in horsepower, the intake is supposed to have the most gain over the exhaust, and throttle body. Dinan claims 17hp. That's pretty good.
Yes, but if I have to spend 2k for throttle body + intake... @5k there is the kompressor possibility, that gives 150 BHP, not 17 ...

Oh I agree with your point. I'm only comparing the hp increases between the three Dinan performance products; exhaust, intake and throttle body.

We can go on and on comparing dollar-per-hp options but in the end, it's up to you want you want to do. I went with Dinan because I trust their products and their warranty gives me a peace of mind. Plus these simple bolt-ons, in my mind, shouldn't negatively affect the rest of my engine/car. A supercharger on the other hand, can potentially affect every engine component and reduce the longevity of the motor. Then again, I might get a Dinan supercharge if they ever make one; again because of their warranty.

BTW, where can you get a supercharger that adds 150 bhp for $5K??

A little secret, EuroCarFan : Dinan sells SC kit made by VF engeneering .

9k for you, 5k for a (my) dear friend that lives 6 month/year in NYC and buy many SC kit (just bought the kit for his E39 M5 : 600 BHP : I can't wait to try it )

Really??

I didn't know that.

Well, back to the dollar-per-hp dilemma again.....if I'm going to spend over $10K on a supercharger, I might as well get an M5....

Decisions decisions decisions.

The Dinan intake increase 17hp on a US spec 645(comes with carbon air filter), but I doubt that claim can be justify on a Euro spec 6er. I'm suspecting that the gain is about 6-8 hp on a euro-spec!

If sound is all you're after, forget it -- well, maybe on wide open throttle at high rpm. I installed after running the Remus for a couple of years and have noticed no change of tone from inside the cockpit.

Ehm ... The 545i with SC Kit is faster than M5 and does better mileage : the B5 has a 20% less consumption than M5 . And it has the Steptronic ...

EuroCarFan, here the M5 costs ?20k more than the 545i ... And in Europe the gas is expensive ..

In the States, the M5 costs about $25K-$30K more than a 545i also. I said $10K cause I've already spent about $20K on upgrades on my car....

I've been debating about selling my car and getting a used M5.
