The very best bulb out there right now is the Philips 85122xvs1 or 85122xvc1
It's a 4800K bulb. (OEM BMW is 4300K)
Osram/Sylvania have two options as well. (SVS 4300K) and (CBI 5000K+)
8000K is a joke. No serious bulb mfg'r is getting anywhere close to 8000K.
The actual light output is so reduced that it isn't feasible. But money talks, and various Chinese dudes will advertise as such.
Do not waste your money trying to find some Ebay 8000k bulb. It's pure BS.
I'm sorry to report that. But that is the lay of the land in 2013.
Remember that Xenon bulbs become "Whiter" with age.

There's Halo brand producing a bulb in the 8000k range.
Just make sure you read this caveat: "The packaging may or may not have the name Halo on the box or the product. This has absolutely no effect on the performance and reliability of the bulb. "
Hmmm. Sounds like a no-name Chinese bulb repackaged for Halo.
Thats the closest I could come to a brand name. You can find there bulbs at Pep Boys, AutoZone etc so be sure to check their sales flyers for a better price.
At $249, I would go with Philips 85122xv, or Osram CBI's, all day long, but they won't have the bluish tint to them.
So you'll just have to roll the dice on one of the Chinese, no-name bulbs, and hope for the best if $250 is out of the price range.
