I have a 530 and I know that the front rotors on the 530 are smaller than the stock front rotors on a 545 but the calipers seem to be the same. Can I order the 545 larger rotors for my 530 and fit them without an issue, or would there be a problem?

Also, is this the same for the rear fitment or does the 545 match the rotor size of the 530 in the back?

I'm buying r1concepts from Trinity soon and need to make sure.

2004 model.

Here is a 545's front (Andy's pic):

if the discs are the same size then there is no problem, you nned to be 100% sure that the 545 and 530 have the same size discs in the uk i'm sure the 545 ones are bigger thus they wont fit. check realoem or phone a dealer if thepart numbers are the same then your ok.....

The front brake pads have different part #'s so i'd assume the calipers are also different. You could have a local machine shop make you a caliper carrier bracket to bring your calipers out further to clear the rotors. But the best thing to do would be to call some scrap yards and get some replacement calipers and carriers.

IMHO if there is one area that BMW over-engineers it's brakes.

For a 530 I don't see any benefit to increasing the size of your rotors other than for appearance sake. If you really want to alter braking performance with some appearance benefit you might want to consider slotted OEM rotors, suitable [for your driving style] aftermarket brake pads to reduce brake dust, and a clean-up/paint job on your calipers.

1. Discs and calipers are different.
2. Rotor size is larger and combined with the reduced weight of the 530i in comparison to the 545i, you will see a slight increase in braking performance. This option won't cost you much at all especially if you find a used set.
3. If you want looks though, go for drilled/slotted aftermarket.

@luigi524td : while BMW engineers great brakes I wish they did over do their capabilities but unfortunately I have been let down by severe fading at high speeds. The M5 replacements are great though.

one of the big compliants on BMW are the brakes if you read reviews of the m3 m5 etc etc there prone to brake fade and car mags which review these cars do always complain about the brakes not really beinig up to job......especially brake fade however not all of us do track days or go mad too often so as as suggested slotted o drilled maybe a better option. I only fit BBK coz i just like big brakes behind big wheels lol
