Isnt the tires also affected by the temperature too? even if there is no snow and its like 20 degrees out, won't summer tires have problems?

You are absolutely correct. Summer tires will start to have problems in the early mornings when temps are close to freezing. all day long in a few weeks when temps are freezing throughout the day. My Pilot Sports are All Season so I can go pretty deep into the cold weather. I can probably make it thru the whole winter if I so chose

I'm throwing these on with some Toyo or Mickey Thompson tires.

I'm going to change mine back to stock in Dec. but the tires are bald. I might just leave them on since I got a Ford Sport Trac as a company car. I'll just drive that.
I was also thinking of painting my 124's black with a red pinstripe. Time attack 124's

As I always do, I wait until Al Roker tells me snow is in the forecast for the week and then I get the car ready. That being said, my 20's are staying on until the 19's feel it's their turn. As of right now, the Toyo T1R's have been doing great in the cold mornings, so no complaints just yet. This winter is going to be very interesting with the M5, stock 19" wheels and the Blizzaks. It's the first winter with this kind of car, which is clearly not made for snow. We shall see how it handles.
What I am looking forward to though, is taking the M out one night, during a snowstorm, to a mall parking lot, taking traction control completely off and sliding all over the place. That should be a blast!
