My Ride: 2005 545i, Black on Black, sport package, dynamic package, performance package...

Thanks to all for thier thoughts/opinions and pictures!

I'm probably going with the R-10's in black. I was toying with either black or silver finish, but I think Black is more unique. Some have told me that black rims will look like winter rims (an unfortunate situation here in Canada!!!), but I think they would look great. Everyone seems to have a silver or chrome finish these days.
Any opinions?

Hmm...help me understand why black rims would look like winter rims? What am I missing? Do you mean that they'll look dirty like winter rims?

I got black because I thought they were more unique as well.

Well, here in Canda, and in northern U.S (wherever there is snow), people put winter tires on. Alot of people simply put on a winter tires on a basic rim (usually black and then a hub cap goes on if you wish) and they don't put on a hub cap. The wheels look totally black, very ugly, but who cares in the winter. You can imagine how unattractive a plain black wheel is. I have put my winter tires on my 18" BMW sport package rims and they don't look like winter rims at all. I guess some people jsut think a black rim looks like a winter rim.
The R-10's look amazing and I like the graphite colour better than dark black. The poliched lip is the icing on the cake!

Ah...I got it now. That's what I thought you meant. Sorry for not fully understanding you the first time. I'm from the Bay Area, CA so our winters are nothing like yours. Actually, for the last month or so, I think I'm living in Seattle. Raining nonstop.

My car is saphire metallic black so the paint matches well with the graphite color of the wheels. And yes, the polished lip is key!!

Eurocarfan,
Still waiting for my Rads R10 :-( should be here hopefully tomorrow (praying) as I'm going out of town on friday. Have a bunch of questions, hope you dont mind
1- Hey i noticed you dropped your car with K2Ws, what is the drop you are using? any rubbing issues?
2- How are those niito tores as far as ride and handling? you like them?
3- is the ride a lot firmer since you dropped the car?
4- I f you would have the chance to choose tires, would you would have considered wider tires 255-30-20 with 295-25-20 or the setup you have is pefect for you?

looking foward for your responses. Also planning to drop my car about 1inch with H&R springs..

Hey Don Juan,
I don't mind the questions at all.

1&3) I lowered my car about 3/4". Not that much lower than the stock sports pkg. I also adjusted the shock stiffness to about 2/3rd. The car is stiffer than stock but not uncomfortably stiff and you can always adjust the shock setting as well as the ride height to suit your needs. My car hardly rubs at all now because the increased stiffness in the shock prevents the car body from traveling up and down as much as before, even though my car is lower than before. Does that make sense? I also had my rear fenders rolled. You will probably encounter some rubbing issues as I did when I first got the R10s.

2&4) I love the Nitto tires. I think they handle great. To be honest though, since I've never compared other tires with the same set up, I couldn't say if they are better or worse than another brand or another size configuration.

Hope to see pics of your new set up soon!
