Okay please don't flame me. This may be a really stupid question...

I just posted my story about one of my new wheels being defective. The dealer said they could not find any physical damage so they replaced it. I had already taken off my spacers because I was trying to figure out if it was the spacers causing the vibration. So they didn't know that I had spacers on before.

SO...is it possible that having the spacers on caused the wheel to warp? PLEASE don't think I am a complete moron.

I tried searching and couldn't find anything like this. All I found was people that are against spacers which got me thinking about not putting them back on. Any opinions or feedback on this? Thanks everyone!

+1. vt had a little problem before with spacers on his 545 only to find that the spacers were not completely fitted. also make sure you spray the spacers with anti-seize if you put them on so it wont be too hard to get them off later if you need to.

Sorry, I need to repost this because I think the responses miss my question completely...The rim has been replaced already.

I wanted to know what may have happened to the warped rim. Was it a factory defect or is it possible that the wheel became warped because of the spacers?

Thanks.

I don't see how a spacer could warp the rim even if installed incorrectly, but then I can't say that I've ever heard of a wheel becoming warped. Bent yes, but not warped. If wheels are over torqued I know brake rotors can warp, but never heard of any problem with the wheels themselves.

Okay I wanted to follow up with this since the problem has been solved. It was the tires! After going to Town Fair Tire 3 times to get balanced and the dealership once to get the wheel replaced I got frustrated and complained to the tire place that this was ridiculous and they should replace my tires. They did. I went with TOYO proxes T1R's. It's a night and day difference between these and the General Exclaim's I originally went with. They ended up costing $50 more per tire, but it is well worth it. No more vibrations!

I put the spacers back on a few days ago and still have no issues with vibrations!

BTW...I want to sell these 12mm spacers because I want to go with the 15mm set up which I should have done originally with these wheels. It's not a big difference, but I can see that I can go out a bit more. I will sell these for $100 + shipping. they come with the extended BLACK bolts too! This set up cost me $130 + shipping at Rogue Engineering less than a month ago. These are like new!
