So I'm looking into getting a set of "drift rims," or at least a pair of them. Considering i'm a college student (pretty poor) the wheels I'm looking for don't have to be fancy at all. So in my pursuit of cheap rims, I need to know the specs on buying wheels. Like offset... Is there anything else I'm missing?
Also, I drive an '06 530i.
Thanks

How would you ruin what you have on now? I would think that stock wheels would be what you beat on, kind of like a winter setup. Take into account hub bore (hubcentric rings might be required). I think it is around 72.1 or 73.6 or yea I clearly don't know but it's around there.
As for width and offset, 8.5''-9'' fronts and 9.5''-10.5'' rears are pretty conventional. Safe offsets for the front would be around +20 and rear would be around +25.

Great thats exactly what I was looking for. Can anyone verify the hubcentric rings? What do they do?
Anyways yeah, ideally, I would buy a nice set of miro's or something, but i don't quite have the budget for it. And I just got new tires which were pretty pricey as well.. So I don't want to loose them too quickly.

Haha wow you must drive like a madman.
In regards to the hub, different cars have different hub bore sizes. Some wheel manufacturers make wheels in a standard bore size and provide rings to make them fit correctly. If they don't fit correctly on the hub they can potentially wobble/vibrate.
When you purchase wheels just ask if they are hubcentric, if not ask if they come with hubcentric rings. You can tell if a wheel is hubcentric when you mount it. If it mounts on and just spins and you can't move it around on the hub then you're good to go. But if you notice the part of the wheel that sits on the hub has space around it (even the tiniest space) then they are not hubcentric.
Oh and I found out that the hub bore diameter for our cars is 72.5ish.
