Ok,

So the car is lowered on H&R's Sports. Love it. Now I'm going to switch to my 19's (Riding on my OEM's) and here is what I have for specs:

Fronts
-Either 245/35/19 or 235/35/19
-ET13
-8.5 wide

Rears
-285/30/19
-ET15
-9.5 wide

Rubbing? I'm still in the air on the fronts because of the low ET and the car being lowered. After checking the search I'm confident on the rear being ok.

Any help/criticism would be great. Pics of the drop up soon.

How wide are the wheels, front and rears?

Your initial reasoning is backwards. The fronts will be perfect, but your rears will rub, esp. with 285's. You'd need at least an ET22 to not rub in the rear on that tire and wheel width. 245/35/19 is the correct front size.

ET17 is the lowest you can go on a 275/30/19 rear....so even that would rub on an ET15. Trust me on this.

Argh,

Thanks DrLev99. I guess I'll put them up for sale.

Would rolling the rears help?

PS - Hope Sid the Kid gets his Cup this year!

Well, if you go with 275's in the rear, rolling the fenders could save the day! If you love the rims, roll 'em. If you want to keep 285's on, forget it!

'GUINS, baby!!

HI guys,

I am running into this issue as well. Should i go 285/30/19 or 285/35/19 on the back. Would either of these setups rub?

I think the Doc has it nailed with his advice, even though I hope the Wings take the Cup again (actually like the Penguins also -- went to Pitt for grad school).

I have H&R Sports and 19" wheels that are 9.5" wide with a 28mm offset. I was using 10mm spacers, so an 18mm effective offset, and with 275/30 Kuhmo's had no rubbing. For this summer I switched to 285/30 PS2's and it rubbed just a little with the 10mm spacers so I removed them (plently of space now that it is back at 28mm).

So from my experence an 18mm offset on 285 tires rubbed --- with only 15mm of offset I think it's pretty certain you would.

par545i -- 285/35's would have lots of issues for rubbing -- stick to 30's

We'd need more info on the offsets to give you any worthwhile answer.

Ok,

So the other rims are gone. I'm looking at another set and the specs are confusing me.

Based on a wheel calculator from stock 17"/7.5j/ET20 to 19"/8.5j/ET35 I get:
"28mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will RETRACT 2mm"

Stock 17"/7.5j/ET20 to 19"/10.5j/ET40 for the rears I get:
"58mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 18mm"

Looking at how much space I have right now with the car dropped the numbers to me are within reason. The front would only coming in about 2mm and the rears would push out 18mm. I'll take pictures of the car later tonight to show how much room outside of the fender I have.

Question is, will I have enough room strut side to fit the rims? Anyone with any knowledge?

BTW, I'm going with 245/35/19 and 275/30/19.

THANKS!
