Hey All. Need some advice regarding changing wheels. Im looking to get some wheels in 18x8.5 ET38 all around. Stock wheels are 16x7 ET20 so ill need some 20mm spacers. My question is what tire size will i need and will i have clearance issues for the front? Thanks.

Offsets work the other way around - ET18 + 20mm spacer = ET38. So those ET38 wheels will probably not fit even without the spacers.

You have a rear wheel drive car, right? So you should look for wheels with ET20 offset.

Also, google "offset calculator"

Anzafin is correct. ET (EinpressTiefe) is a measurement of how big the offset is between the centre of the wheel and the wheel mounting surface.

If you go from an offset of 38 mm to 20 mms the wheel will be without spacers 18 mm closer to the car. Not good for neither handling or tyres getting close to the chassie...

Besides, there might be rubbing on the inner side of the tire without spacers. But JECAR seems to know this as he already mentioned he would need spacers.

Back to topic:
The right tire size would be 245/40 R18. I used to have that size wrapped on 8,5x18 ET15 rims without any problems, so to me it looks that the 8,5x18 ET38 + 20mm spacers + 245/40 R18 combo would work. I would recommend buying wheels with correct offsets though, because 20mm spacers sound quite much, especially for front axel.
