Unhappy

Hi All,

Got my E60 a couple months ago and just installed this used set of 19" Hartge Classic wheels a couple of weeks ago. Recently, I purchased a used set of OEM M5 166 wheels. However they will need to be refinish due to some curb rash. Can't decide whether to switch over as I really like the look of the Hartge but I also was looking at the M166 wheels before I got the Hartge. Let me what you think, to switch or not to switch.

Francis

my thoughts,

i love the Hartge Classics and have owned them. However, on the e60 boday the classics doesn't look as kick ass.
I would go with the 166s since they give the car more prominent and proportional look.
However, if you brought the Classic IIs into the mix, my vote would be IIs.

Hartge Classic II > M 166 > Hartge Classic.

The major cons with the Hartge is that they are much heavier at each corner. At least 10lbs with tires i would say.
10 x 4 wheels = 40 extra pound. 40 unsprung extra pound at the wheel = 160 extra pound at least in the car.

Also, having owned the Classics I can say they are much harder to maintain due to the lip.

Overall function aspect the M 166 will win every time.
the other is subjective which you prefer.

Make the switch... 166's are more classic than the Hartge Classics. Well on second thought, they both look good. Maybe you should alternate between the two sets every other week.

Thanks for all replies thus far. I am probably going to switch over to the 166 in the future once I get a chance to have them refinished, but I am in no rush to do so. Since both set of wheels are 19" I will keep both sets and interchange them when or as desired.

I do have set of 18" OEM 124 wheels for sale that will be available next month if any is interested.
