The BMW dealership can do your wheel alignment. I have 20" Axis Penta on my E60 and they didn't have any problem and i paid them $150.00. If you are paying over $300 for just wheel alignment... that's B.S.......
You obviously don't have Active Steering.

I have the same dilemma and would also like a definate answer to this situation. What special type of tools does an ailgnment store need to have to ailign with active steering? I have a non bmw dealership saying they can align my car with active steering for cheap but i cant tell if hes just wanting my business.

thanks for the responses. here are the answers I have gotten from several people. the dealer uses an alignment machine which locks on only to OEM wheels. If you notice on OEM wheels, there are small holes by the lug nuts where teh alignment machine attaches. Aftermarket wheels do not have these holes and thus can not be aligned. Dealer quoted me 200 for alignment and another 100 to throw on a set of OEM wheels they have in the shop. Dealer could not confirm if an independent shop could do alignment.
Decided to take my car to a specialty alignment shop here. They said they have done cars with Active steering with no issues. I wil let everyone know what the result is. He agreed not to charge of alignment was off in the end.

I do have an active steering.. its a 2005 sports package. My best friend works for LB BMW (finance station) that's why they qouted me for only $150. But I asked my SA again and he said you'll pay average $150-$250 bucks....

I am taking my car in for alignment this weekend. Dealer quoted $149, minus discount for BMWCCA members.

First time I am getting this done after having my car for over 2 years. SA is suggesting I should get it done every year (which is recommended by other car dealers too).

That's cheap...

I called the independent alignment shop that aligns race/track cars and was told that they've done cars w/ Active Steering and shouldn't be an issue...So I'll just be taking it down to them and get it done there.
