Wheel Alignment Question
#1
Need to get an alignment done. However I have read in previous posts and heard conflicting sides. Apparently, cars equipped with Active Steering can only be aligned at the BMW dealership because of software within the active steering system and if not done the car will be going all over to the place (according to SA).
I am also faced with the issue of having 20" aftermarket wheels. Can the dealer align my car with aftermarket wheels? Thanks.

If you are talking a proper BMW KDS alignment, you will be in trouble with the aftermarket wheels.
Original BMW wheels usually have a few more little holes you can see from the outside, which are used to hook up the KDS alignment toolery.
At least that's the way I know it.

I've been through this ordeal. I had to get an alignment for my 545i with Active Steering and 20" wheels. I swapped into 19" wheels with delje08. The cost was $250.

I was in the exact same dilemma and was told by the dealer that they could not hook-up my iForged 20's to the machine so you might want to keep this in mind since I noticed you're sporting 20" HRE's. To top it off I was quoted $600. I called another BMW dealership located just a few blocks from where I live and they quoted me $500 or so.

There are many BMW dealerships in LA. Keep on looking until you get $200 - $300.

The BMW dealership can do your wheel alignment. I have 20" Axis Penta on my E60 and they didn't have any problem and i paid them $150.00. If you are paying over $300 for just wheel alignment... that's B.S.......
