I'm looking to purchase all the parts for the paddleshift mod, but I'm confused on airbags. What's the difference? Why different part #'s?

1. 32346761382 (up to 9/05)
2. 32346772989 (from 9/05)
I told dealer I wanted to buy #1, but they said that they can only find #2. I took it and it fit in my M5 steering wheel won on eBay
Best Regards

My car is a 7/04 build ,so if I buy a current m5 steering + airbag (32346761382) it will work together?

They're exactly the same. Either airbag will fit perfectly. Now comes to the question: how do we test it?
Simple: if the airbag cannot be detected and failed initial test when you turn on the ignition, "Driver's Side Airbag Malfunctions" will appear on i-Drive screen.
All airbag are always tested when you turn on the ignition.
I tested mine once. With the ignition on, I unplugged the airbag and took it out. The message appear on the screen right away.
