12mm or 15mm spacers on the rears and you'll be good to go....

I was asking the same question myself over the past few months. Finally bit the bullet today and ordered 15mm for the rear and 5mm for the front from Nerweezy at Trinity. I wouldn't go any smaller than 15mm in the rear, nor any bigger than 20mm. Then again, what the hell do I know. From all I could find in research, 15mm rear and 5mm front is aggressive enough in stance but won't cause any trouble with rubbing or performance. GL on your journey my friend.
Love the car by the way. Nice!

^20mm on the rears might require some fender rolling I think....but good choice with 15mm and 5mm upfront...Nerweezy knows what he's talking about

a member ordered 2 sets of spacers just today for his 172 wheels, 5mm in the front and 15mm in the rear. sorry but I have no pics of the wheels with spacers on them on an e60 but for sure the wheels will be pretty flush with the fenders.
EDIT: beat me to it, see member bha7176's post above. thanks for the support Bryan
