What the.... Ipod Issues HELP?!!!

I'm sure this has been brought up before, I can't be the first. I tried searching the forums for previous postings with no luck. Can someone please tell me the dealeo? I disconnected my Ipod now it shows all the songs in some type of acronym alphabetical order (see pic) This is the set up (see other pic). But even before I lost the song and artist listing, it never opened by genre. Do I need an additional adaptor for this???

what year is your car, make model? That an OEM usb connection or aftermarket/retrofit?
