I have a 2006 E60.
K-line only will work on cars up to about 2007 depending on BMW model. Works on my 2006.
K+DCAN will work on your car also as well as later cars. Works on my 2006 and wife's 2009.
But, very important is to buy from someone who has made the software installation EASY. Installing all the BMW stuff is very painful.

I thought I'd be lucky buying a cheaper cable from ebay but only waisted time, $30 and headaches tryin to fig out if issue was HDW or SW. The $100 cable from HK/China worked out the gate so the advice on here is spot on in recommending buying (cable) from one stop electronics.

I got my two cables off ebay. They both work. But, I have read a lot of bad stories and no one seems to have an issue with Stop Elec. OTOH, Stop doesn't include s/w.

That cable should work fine for your car according to the description. I bought mine off ebay too first choice of mine was a bummer and returned it but second source worked like a charm with software that was functional for me, still a bugger to configure first time though.

The cable worked flawless but the software was incomplete, it took me a whole week to download the soft and daten files from another source
After that I was able to use NCS expert to code out my SGM error
Everything was fine but yesterday after changing the car battery I get this error
STVR/TBEF error 96AB
It means the vin is wrong, I can't see this module in NCS maybe ncs display another name?
I don't understand why changing the car battery trigger this vin error,
After checking in INPA the vin is in fat different from the rest of the car
Anyway I try to use Tool32 to change the vin number but it give me this error
(Ecu conditions not correct or request sequence error)
I want to avoid using winkfp to just change a vin number and risking damage something else,
is there another way to change this vin without updating the whole module?
Thanks in advance
