I was also considering chipping my 535d.
But i couldn't resist to try a much cheaper powerbox and try this first!

Just placed this weekend a 89? powerbox from www.abrieb.de on my 535d.
Ordered via Ebay and it took me 5 min to install!

Performance measerad before and after with chrono:
before - after
0-100 6.3 5.3 (start is second gear is better and gives less spin)
0-160 13.5 12.0
0-200 21.5 18.2
0-250 43 34

Really amazing power increase. I don't know how much but my time to f.e. 0-200 is even slightly faster then the video from wetterauer chip (40-200 : 17.5s)
Car is pushing so hard that i am afraid to break something.

I don't think i need to go for a more expensive ECU chiptuning now.
Can anyone guess how much power i have now?

Tonight I took 2 movies of the performance of the car. I don't have a camera mount so the quality is not so good. There is some tire spin through 1st because of the power and the wear of the rear tires (run flats, which will be replaced by Bridgestone S03's soon). I had traction control turned on the whole time, so you see the power cut off near red line in 1st for an instance.

Specs of the car after tuning are 350bhp and 660nm of torque approximately.

Congrates on your upgrade from Wetterauer . Had my ECU upgrade from them but unfortunately not such tremendous increase in power! Prehaps should have go for the turbo diesel

Dear Pattle a video shows nothing without facts so go to auto tune heinz or any other tuner and make a rolling road test than you will know.

And happy for you but believe us what BMW does not like and easily see is a so called "black box" in your car messing up the injection of fuel (gas) and all the HP and boosts, what is with the torque-distribution IMO that is the most important when jucing is concerned.

And do not take it personally but think a bit if less than 100? you can get that performance why do you think tuners do it for 1000?+ just to make some profit, nah you are wrong if you think of that.

They make programs and test it for years!!! before any ECU is reprogrammed and you know that way it is a reliable and do not mess up an expensive BMW engine, the engine just performs at its peak that is how it was bulit its a BMW come on, but without exegeration of any engine parts' wear.

SO be happy and very carefull never believe in CHEAP resolution nor marketing it is all BS.

Hope your engine will survive, we will see but I have too many BMW friends who blew their nice engines for cheap fun

I'm not able to conclude that the 545i stock is faster than a wetterauer tuned 535d or vice-versa are you? I see andy's 545i clocked at thousand's of a second but not such thing with a remaped 535d. I cannot tell how fast was the wetterauer 535d nor i could tell how fast it could be baring in mind that he didn't use any braketorque or not even dsc off.

Braketorque really helps the 535d on the 1/4 as the car launches way better because of the huge and sudden torque available at low revs. dsc off is a must for every car to give good performance.

BUT i still am willing to bet my house that the 535d wetterauer remaped wins in front of a stock 545i on the 1/4 and probably is pretty close next to it at 200km/h.
Also baring in mind that such performance can be achived from a 3liter tt oil burner matching a v8 petrol bmw...in a way i can understand your frustration. I really do. In this case you payed extra my friend just for sound if you ask me and of course for worse mileage. But that's ok by me as long as it doesn't bother the owner.

LOL, in fairness I doubt there are going to be too many frustrations on a 545 owner's part... The bigger gas engines are probably still faster, remap or not, than the diesel. I have never seen a stock or remapped diesel (from the higher end tuners, e.g. Wetterauer and DMS) turn in times that can better the best 545 review times (never mind the sub 5 second times that a few owners on here report). It's not just a 0-60 thing - on high speed runs from a standstill the V8 engine doesn't stop pulling either, and it has a much wider rev range to work with than the diesel. That's perhaps the key difference - diesel torque is truly phenomenal but you run out of steam too soon because of the limited rev range. Don't doubt the 535's better in gear acceleration, I'd probably counter with the argument that you don't want to drive a revvy car like the gas V8's like that, you would use the revs and gears differently. If a 535 was pulling against a rolling 545 and both drivers were pushing for max acceleration in the manner best suited to their specific vehicle the diesel advantage is essentially nullified.

C&D reviewed a 330d that was in the US for Bosch promotional purposes and compared it to the 330i a few months back. They loved the diesel and said that it felt quicker than the gas equivalent - but on every test measurement the 330i was actually faster. Point being the 535d, like pretty much every turbo diesel, will feel quicker than it actually is - which from the driver's standpoint is a very good thing, but the numbers I've seen by and large don't support the argument that the diesels are actually quicker, even post remap. Take the economics out of the mix (EU market conditions clearly favor the 535d), and it ends up being personal choice - you do have to work harder to keep a gas engine in its sweet spot whereas a top drawer turbo diesel like the 535d is much more effortless, and some will prefer one over the other. Personally I suspect I might prefer the driveability options that the diesel has to offer (and I hope we get them in the US as soon as possible) but I do think the gas V8 is, ultimately, a little faster.
