i remember some talk about superchargers for the 4.4L and 4.8L in the 545i and 550i's but none of the threads have been updated in a while and neither has their website. any news?

Last thing I've seen was that their products available un the UK. 8 cil models still developing.

They have a system fot 6 cil. 330/530i 251hp+ supercharger = 325 hp!! :devil: :devil:

With current horse power war taking place between manufactures, it might not worth to spend $10K to $20K for the upgrade. With $10K -$20K differences, we're better off go with M5 which is full warranty from BMW.

Fred, the 545i kompressor is faster than M5 and consumption is better of 25%, at least .

You that live in USA : supercharge your 545i, there is legal!

In my coutry there is a loooooong procedure to legalize the modded car :( ..

No, because law says "BMW makes the car safe and if you want to legalize your mods you must have the permission from Mother BMW", but obviously BMW don't give you permission to mod the car .

Thus there is a long and expensive procedure, called "unique item", with a signed evaluation by a mechanical engeneer that confirm that the car is safe to go on the road .

Otherwise we could go to legalize it in Germany with the help of a german person who use his name to regularize the car and this procedure is valid because our two countries are members of European Union .

A dear friend has bought from VF the SC kit for his M5 E39 : I will ask him on the whole procedure he will follow .

Here in Europe there are too rules about cars ...

About "outrun" .. Ferrari releases the F599 Fiorano (V12, 6.0, 620 HP) and a supercharged 545i doesn't outrun her :-) .

As i have said before what concerns ME the most about superchargers is how they affect the reliability of the engine.If they wouldnt have any effect maybe i would do it.But anyways i wouldnt spend so much money to have a broken down car after a while.

530i, your car can do at least 300k km with the original engine ... If you supercharge it perhaps they will become 150 .. But you will do 150k km with your car, in a few years ?

Anyway, imho a supercharged car wouldn't have problems about reability if you have care for her ... With 500 BHP you can't push all the pedal ... There is traffic on the way and you can't fly over it, neither with the SC kit :) .
