Valentine 1 and speeding tickets

You bring up an interesting point regarding lasers. Since they are rarely used on highways, it should not be an issue there. Is it true that lasers are used mostly during daytime in residential areas as the cop needs to stand outside his vehicle aiming straight at incoming traffic? So doing this in dark would be difficult.
However, is it true that while speeding alone on empty highways, one is most vulnerable to instant on radar? There is no traffic ahead of you to provide any kind of shielding.

Go pick up the Feb 2007 issue of European Car (I think it should be on newstands already). They have an article on testing radar detectors. The test was done by Speed Measurement Laboratories (www.speedlabs.com). The tests were conducted by Texas law enforcement officers. They tested the Escort Passport 8500 X50, Valentine One and Beltronics STi Driver. They even have a radar detector dectector test because in some states, it's illegal to use radar detectors and some units are invisible to that. The Beltronics came out on top with that category but when you take that component out, the V1 was number 1...having the best 360 degree protection. The sidebar of the article is where they talked about the Laser Blinder X-treme and they said that when you have the two modules mounted on either side of the front license plate, they will jam laser signals 100% of the time. Interesting article....

Hey everyone,
I actually work for a Company (www.benchmarkmotoring.com) that sells and installs about 4-5 Escort SRX stealth radar/ Laser diffusing systems a week and not one person in the last 3 years has received a ticket via radar or laser. The only 3 tickets that anyone has received has been via aircraft, but those guy's got out those tickets pretty easy from what Iv'e heard. Apparantly the legal loop hole is that the guy hitting you from above has to be the one to sign your ticket. We get calls almost daily from our clients boasting how they saw a cop on the side of the road shaking his laser gun like something was wrong with his gun. It's halarious to hear the stories. Yes it is illeagal in some areas (CA, WADC, VA) but the Escort SRX is equipped with the abilty to nulify their "Radar detector- detector", which means they can't detect you even have a system in your car. So, speed on!!!!
For the guy's that can't give up their V1, we usually harwire them in for added piece of mind.

a laser jammer like the Laser Blinder X-Treme M-20 (front only) or M-40 (front and rear) for the best protection.
Question : does this M40 work in EU ?
If I am the target of a lasergun, what happen ?
There is a DLOOON or what else ?
I have time enough to break ?
Tnx!

You will almost never encounter laser on the highway.

I wish that were true in CA subterfuse. I've seen a number of CHP on overpasses with laser and on the side of the road. The ones on the overpasses are kinda obvious but you gotta keep an eye out.

Well.... they don't do that in most states. It certainly doesn't happen in central Florida. The only place I have ever seen laser being used was by local police on foot. Highway patrol here all use their in-car radar systems. They sit in their car waiting for you to come over a hill, or around a bend... and they have the radar on non-stop. My V1 picks them up with plenty of lead time.... even over hills.

In my experience, you are correct in that laser is primarily used during the daytime. Here in Florida, since the cops generally are on foot.... they use laser in residential areas where the speed limits do not exceed 35-40 mph. They use laser because it works well from a long distance, and gives them time to walk out and stop traffic. If they used radar from a long distance, you can fight that easily because they can't tell whether it was you or another car near you..... since radar spreads so much.
Instant-on radar when you are alone on the highway is a big threat. However, I have not encountered any Instant On radars in all my years of driving with a V1. I just don't think they are very common. Kinda like laser isn't very common. In fact, unless my Valntine 1 says the bogey is Ka band.... I ignore it. That's how confident I feel about detecting police radar vs. false alarms.

man every time i read about the V1 in threads i just wanna get one.. too bad i cant...
Why not? Detectors are not illegal in CA, are they? I thought they were only illegal in VA and DC.
