The best solution is to have deep enough pockets to afford them
or to have a friend who works in law enforcement.

Yes, deep pockets solve a lot of problems.

That's why strategy is to become friends with every cop I see

I'm still working on it....it's not going too well

It may be easier in some years when you are the cops' age -- and not just the age of the perps.

There is no way that's the reason....

Son, do you know why I pulled you over?
Why don't I buy you a steak dinner and let's forget about this.
I don't think so. I'll be back in a minute with your ticket.

The above hasn't happened yet but I imagine that's what it would go like

It continues....

Son you just tried to bribe a law enforcement offer.
Get out of that fancy 545, get on the ground, hands behind your head....

Hahahahahahahaha....that's probably what would happen

There are so many "got beat up in high-school cops" around here. Lucky me I have only dealt with the nice one's so far. (Only 2 times.)

I even Googled the officer who pulled me over and found he had a Facebook profile and I asked him if he remembered that he pulled me over. He told me no the first time, but said he remembered the second time I messaged him That was a funny conversation

BTW, sorry for the thread jack, but the V1 really is the best. My friend has a K-40 and all it does is beep and light up while you look around for the cop.

Kzang, it does sound like you've made your mind up that the arrows aren't useful and you're already sold on the Passport model, I can honestly say that once you have the arrow display and are armed with the extra information they provide, there's no going back to just beeps...

I've been using radar detectors since the good old Fuzzbuster, the ground breaking original Escort (Mike Valentine's first creation), the original Passport, and finally one of the first Valentine One units ever shipped (received as soon as they began shipping after my order was on a waiting list for something like six months.) After using detectors for all these years (and getting some tickets early on while still learning how to interpret the warnings), I can say that I don't immediately slow down when I first hear a beep and I don't only speed up when the beeping stops. Sure, you can call me a "moron" but as an experienced detector user, I'd call anyone who automatically slows down during any beeping a "rookie".

The V1 arrows not only help identify where the cop is (as many have explained already) but also help you identify false alarms as well. You can easily see when the alert has passed from in front, then to the side, and then to the rear. When that happens, you know you're clear -- even though the beeping still continues.

Rather than going on and on about it, take a look here and see some more information I posted a while ago about this exact issue:
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=342132

Good luck with your purchase. If you end up spending the extra money and going with the Passport [over the V1], as long as you're happy with the product things will all be cool...just remember how passionate us V1 folks are -- we're not all preaching the virtues of the arrows because they're useless...
