Just found this?sorry if this has already been beaten to death?but it was new to me so I?m sure there is someone else out there that may benefit as well / It?s a tech page from the V1 site that shows how to reprogram your V1?as an example I used it to shut off X & K band and now my detector only goes off for Ka & laser. And I also raised the signal strength for Ka

You're right, the ability to reprogram the V1 is something that most V1 owner's know nothing about.
We discussed it a while ago in this post but I'm sure there are many new members who didn't go back that far in the archives.
That said, as much as I like to tinker with things, I haven't touched mine -- it's still programmed with the factory defaults. I just returned from a 2000 mile trip and it's quite tempting to turn off the X and K band alerts since every construction alert sign has a radar unit on it now...

But if you turned them off, you'd be sure to run into Barney Fife out there with an old unit and get nailed.

I've had my V1 for some time now and have it set to advanced logic mode (big L). This does a good job of filtering out some falses. I also read that section of their site that talks about all the tweaks you can make to the unit, and at one point programmed the V1 to ignore X band, thinking it would reduce all the falses you get in parking lots from automatic door openers. It didn't help so I reset it to the default setting.
I'd rather err on the safe side and get a few too many falses. The mute button is your friend--I have the concealed display located in front of the MPG gauge so the mute button is in easy reach!!
A year or so ago I had my unit upgraded for POP--something to consider for those with older units.
Here's a quote from Mike Valentine on his site:
You can change V1?s programming to meet special operating requirements, but should you? Police and the military strive for "situation awareness". If you know what?s going on all around you, you?re unlikely to be surprised by an ambush. Situation awareness is also the philosophy behind V1. The front and rear antennas, the Radar Locator and the Bogey Counter all work together to keep you informed of What is around you, How Many, and Where.
