Can someone direct me to a source for McGard's Ultra lockers, that will fit the 550i with 172's? The UK sources' web sites seem to only want to do business with UK, Scotland, and Ireland, and the couple sources in the US I've tried online, are unclear about whether their product is the standard or Ultra.

Thanks in advance,

Cal

I just purchased McGard wheel locks for my wife ML550. The address is 3875 California Road, Orchard Park, NY 14127.
Phone # 1-800-444-5847. There were no website address around the box and the registration form. Hope this help.

For reference, three sources so far for McGards in the US: www.summitracing.com; www.americanracing.com; and Pep Boys. About $33 for a set plus s/h.

The part you want is M12 x 1.5 27179 SL - Thats the Ultra version for our BMWs.

Its so funny that for a product that is made in the USA you guys are having problems finding it.

I've got an extra set laying around here somewhere. Initially I ordered 2 sets (1 black, 1 silver); decided to install the black-top set when my new wheels came in. PM me if you're interested in the silver ones.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I read somewhere that they're made in Germany....

Another source ... www.jegs.com.

I spoke with a McGard factory cust service guy and he knew nothing of the "SL" tacked on to the 27179 or 27178 part number.

You can buy direct from factory but they charge a price higher than the retailers $50.69 plus $6.57 shipping. I think the black 27178 cost more.

The factory is in NY or NJ (forget which). Address is elsewhere in the or another related thread. Phone is 716.662.8980.

From the packing. "Packing and Contents are made in Germany and/or USA"

I didn't realise that McGards made bolts with a black head. Maybe that's the answer then instead of buying the BMW version of the McGards bolts. The Ultra has the loose rotating collar around the head the Standard ones don't. And the bad news is that the bad head nuts don't come in the Ultra Variant, which I think it better protection.
