I have had my 530d(218) for 3 weeks and i am very happy with it. I would like a little more power so can you recommend a GOOD remap company. Doing a google search i come up with Superchips, Chipped UK.. and plenty more but i would like to hear from someone that has actually had the job done!! Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks Heath

Excuse the lack of knowledge but, how do you get this done?
Is this like a chip upgrade?
Or a super chip?
What do they actually do, I'm guessing run some software update.
What does this upgrade actually do to help your car?
Where can I get this done in my area in Minnesota?
thanks in advance for the reply's.

In essence they reprogram the existing chip in your car. So they do not add any hardware or "little black boxes". When I had mine done, they came up to my house in their car with a laptop. They then took the engine management unit out of my car (and my wife's, they did both at the same time) and sat in their car with it. They plugged the box in to their laptop and downloaded the current program. Then (apparently) they send this off to their base where it gets reprogrammed, and then they send it back to the guy with the laptop. He then uploads the new version on to your engine management unit, and fits it back in the car. Visibly it's impossible to tell that it's been done. The whole process took about 3 hours, one car would have taken around 2 hours.
The result, my car is now 338bhp and 698Nm, compared to the stock values of 286bhp and 580Nm.
This gives faster acceleration, smoother response, if driven sensibly better MPG, and generally turns the car from being an "oh my god this car is fast" car to a "F*CKING HELL WHAT THE F*CK ENGINE IS IN THIS? A DIESEL?? NO F*CKING WAY!" type of reaction from passengers.

Well im in the UK so no idea ... I would recommend;
1) update your signature with car details (really helps everyone when replying to posts)
2) update your profile so it shows your location (see how mine says "Runcorn, NW-UK")
3) post a new message, titled "Remap company in Minnesota?", and ask the question again. Many people won't see it buried half way down an existing thread.
Hope that helps.
