Unhappy

so I've been noticing a minor vibration while driving on the highway. I took my car to discount tire to re-balance my tires. Turns out the rear tires were worn out from the inside. The tech told me that it's probably an alignment issue. the last time i had an alignment was with my stock 124s, I was running with 166s 275/35/19, I went ahead an replaced the tires with 285/30/19.

if this is truly an alignment issue, where should I go? Wouldn't an alignment shop align my wheels for stock configuration not with my modified config?

Wear on the inside tread of the rears is normal for BMW's due to the negative camber. It doesn't mean you need an alignment necessarily. How many miles are on your tires?

The alignment tools measure from the car's hub centers, so it doesn't really matter if your wheels are bigger than stock. They will try and set the alignment up as close as they can to the wheel sizes available in the system for your model.

I'd let the dealership do it if you can't find a shop who has worked on BMW's before.

If you had a load of miles on those tires, I wouldn't bother with an alignment.

I put about 15K miles on the old tires. If it's due to the negative camber and I have wider wheels, shouldnt the tires wear out faster (inner tires) compared to the stock? If this is normal wear for the rears then I won't bother with the alignment.

I also noticed my front inner tire looks like its been bouncing. The tread is worn out on every other tread, I don't know why this is also happening...

hmm. do u still have ur stockers? Put them on and see how it drives THEN decide about an alignment. It seems like u need an alignment and the toe may be a bit off?
