The one for manual transmission being a bit more sensitive if I remember correctly.

My Ride: 2006 550 SMG
![Default](https://5series.net/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif)
Guys when I had my 550 SMG I tried both auto and manual. The manual one was crazy, I felt like it was going to burn out the clutch, so I used the auto one. Between having the sprint booster and the SMG tranny there was no lag at all. Dont know about the Auto tranny since its prone to have more lag anyway.

I am pretty sure you know which type of tranny you have? SMG, auto or manual? I think that should make your decision pretty simple, or am I missing something here? ![Think](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/think.gif)

hahahahaha....i read the post incorrectly. i thought there were 3 types of sprintboosters for automatic trannys. not one for each type of tranny. sorry for the confusion.

OK, I think I have changed my mind.
I drove about 50 miles today, both city and highway. Thanks to Puck's suggestion for tranny reset, the acceleration feels much smoother. I have also noticed very little lag and I am definitely aware of a more spirited acceleration. In D mode I have no fear of slamming the pedal, but in DS mode there is a risk of redline if the pedal is slammed... as I did this last night. I never hit redline before installing the booster. Anyway, I had to work today but I really enjoyed my 50 mile roundtrip and I am now thinking that the $270 I spent on the sprint booster was well worth it.

I don't believe the 25-sec accelerator reset works with the SMG tranny. However, at least on my M5, there was a SMG reset feature, by holding both paddles forward for 2-3 seconds, while in neutral going between 20-70 mph. I would think this also applies to non-M SMG transmissions. ![Think](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/think.gif)
