I know that this has been thrashed to death several times but i am looking for some advice on tyres...

I have just spent a wonderful week touring Wales including some of the best driving roads in the UK . Unfortunatley the trip was slightly marred by three false RFT warnings and the onset of whining from the from my front tyres on smooth surfaces.

Looking at my front tyres (Original dunlop RFTs with 28K Miles) they are showing the classic inside-edge feathering that seems to be typical for these tyres which is putting them close to being illegal. So what to do ?

I will be beating up my dealer with the faint hope of getting replacement tyres (doubtfull due to high mileage) but failing that I will be getting new rubber. Does anyone have anything positive to say about the newer run-flats or should I bite the bullet and go for normal tyres ?

Also, the feathering worries me - I know this is most likely the tyres but I will probably get the tracking checked. Has anyone had this done on an E60 ? I was told previously that this was tricky on our cars for some reason.

Mine (the new Dunlop design) have 4 000 km's & I am awaiting delivery of Michelin PS2's because I just cannot tolerate the harsh ride. May as well drive on bare rims.

Also the noise on rough surfaces is excessive.

My advice = get something else!
