Just got an email from Freischaltmodul.de announcing they have a module available, what allows using the BMW TV tuner while driving.
TVfree X-5000, E60/E61
TVfree X-6000, E63/E64
In the German version of the site there is a *.pdf with installation instructions. It's a plug and play solution, but you have to plug it into the CCC, not just behind the screen.
You'll find the *.pdf under downloads in the German site (in German of course).

This is for use of the stock TV tuner while the car is in motion.

On the English site, they have the 5-Series and 7-Series photos reversed. When you click on the E60, you get the correct module for the 5 (X-5000) but the photo is a 7-Series. When you click the 7-Series, you get the correct module for the 7 but the picture is of an E60...

since the US cars do NOT have a TV tuner, one could get the TVfree T-5500 & a lowprofile TV antanae such as this one:

that hides above the headliner, or possibly even in the trunk, above the liner?!

providing that the TV Tuner is a US Tuner, not GB (not sure if they are compatible - doubtful)

if it is NOT, then one could just get a TV Tuner such as:
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/csexpo/xtxoviscartv.html

& interface them via one of the two mentioned Video Source Inputs of the TVfree T-5500. - just wondering if at this point you have to get the AUX Input installed to get sound, or an FM Modulator (which sucks) - since theTV Tuner otherwise won't get sound into the system, right?!
